KUALA LUMPUR: The Myvi club, which is being investigated for allegedly causing the accident that killed three people from the same family on the Duta-Ulu Kelang Expressway (DUKE), has pledged to look after the welfare of the family’s two surviving daughters.
Members of the Familia Myvi Club (FMC) visited the home of deceased couple Fairuz Nizam Husain and Nova Safitri Azhari in Batu Caves at about 5pm Sunday to meet with the victims’ family members.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, FMC representative Hairul Safuan said that members of the automotive club had expressed their condolences to the bereaved family and explained their side of the story.
“We want to clear our names. After the incident, a few of our members received threatening messages on Facebook and WhatsApp. These strangers threatened to beat our members up when they see them or smash their cars,” he said.
Hairul said he spoke with Fairuz Nizam’s brother Faizznur Asyraf, and told him that the club had collectively agreed to sponsor the couple’s orphaned daughters Nur Firuza Amira, seven, and Nur Firuza Akila, three, until they turn 18.
“We discussed and have agreed to pool our money together and fund the girls’ welfare until they reach the age of 18. We have also given a donation to the family
